FIGHTING HANDGUN LEVEL 1

Summary

If you have confidence in your basic tactical marksmanship skills, then this is the next course for you. The focus is on fighting with a handgun. A wide variety of skills and responses will be introduced to better prepare you for prevailing and dominating in a life-threatening situation. Students will learn to fight in close quarters while carrying or deploying a handgun.

 

Course Description

This class will add an additional layer of extremely important dynamic skills when fighting with a handgun in a life-threatening, self-defense situation. The drills taught in this class are not range and paper target based, but rather based on the realities of close range fighting, which includes hand-to-hand combat while armed with a pistol. This course offers long lasting concepts that can be used in future dry-fire and live-fire training.

 

Topics to be covered in coursework:

Shooting while on the move

Shooting moving targets

Combat reloads

Striking with handgun

Handgun retention and disarming

Immediate Action and Remedial Action

Drawing, firing, and manipulations with one hand occupied

Stealth Drawing and target engagement

Threat focused “flash sight picture” shooting

Multiple target engagement

Extreme Close Range Target Engagement

Use of cover and cornering

Weapon Retention

A “combat” style graduation engagement course

Course will physical, but not demanding

 

Course Logistics:

Approximately 8-hours of instruction completed in one day at our training facility. PREREQUISITE: Handgun Level 2 or equivalent

 

CLASSROOM TRAINING PREPARATION:

Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class for check-in process

Pens, notebooks and course materials will be provided

Feel free to bring drinks/snacks for classroom training

 

Training Preparation:

Handgun- Students may bring their own handgun and ammunition with at least two additional mags.

Ammunition– bring 300 rounds of ammunition.

Protection- bring eye & ear protection (example) & a ball cap.

Attire – bring clothing and shoes appropriate for outdoor range training, including rain gear – jacket, mud boots, etc.

Classes will be held rain or shine.

 

Adherence to Rules Required:

While in the classroom, the following rules MUST BE adhered to
at ALL TIMES:

NO LIVE FIREARMS

NO AMMUNITION

ALL WEAPONS UNLOADED & STORED IN CASE

 

Course Cancellation Policy:

Enrollees who cancel a scheduled course, for whatever reason(s), are required to reschedule for the same course, or like course, within 1-week after the originally scheduled course date. Enrollees who wish not to reschedule will be refunded 50% of the original tuition cost. No exceptions will be made to this policy due to the resources expended with class preparation based on registration/enrollment numbers.
